An incomplete copper-alloy spiral finger ring of probable later Prehistoric date, perhaps Middle Bronze Age (c. 1500-1150 BC) and possibly of the 'ornament horizon'. The finger ring is formed from an oval rod which has two turns and an old break. It is difficult to tell Bronze Age from Iron Age from Roman spiral finger-rings but earlier examples may have more turns around the finger and be thicker than later examples. A similar object has been recorded on the PAS database as HAMP-7556B3 and SF-761FF6 , see also examples of spiraloid rings in the Near Lewes hoard (SUSS-C5D042) and the Ockham hoard (SUR-B41DB6), both Middle Bronze Age in date.
