Copper alloy ferrule; one of a number of objects now known to be from the ends of the ribs of a parasol. A small conical tubular object with a crimped solid end through which a hole of diameter 2.5mm has been drilled. The tube has a small [diameter 1.5mm] hole for a fixing pin in its wall towards its open end. The object retains tan coloured fragments of a wooden rod within. These objects have been frequently reported by this finder from Scawby, North Lincolnshire, though examples occasionally appear elsewhere. Their This is among the smaller examples. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900.
