An incomplete copper-alloy dress hook of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1650. The dress hook is of Reads Class E, Type 3 being sub-circular in plan. The main plate comprises a solid domed boss bearing a classical style human facing mask within a beaded border.
A sub-rectangular attachment loop projects from one edge of the plate, and an incomplete hook extends from the opposite edge. The reverse of the object is concave and undecorated.
The metal has a brassy brown patina and is worn. The dress hook is 36.7mm long, 16.9mm wide, 3.3mm thick and weighs 2.5g.
A similar example is illustrated in Read (2008), p.92, no.322 and is dated to the early post-medieval period.
