A complete cast copper alloy Post-Medieval buckle with double loop trapezoidal frame and pin. The buckle frame has projecting trapezoidal knops at each of the four angles of the frame, wide triangular knops positioned centrally on the outer edges and small rounded knops at each end of the strap bar. The tip of the right-hand triangular knop has been broken off. The surface of the buckle is flat and incised with two transverse lines along the outer edges the two loops. The triangular knops on the outer edge are both divided by single horizontal incisions which acted as pin rests. The copper alloy pin is wrapped around the narrowed strap bar which is flush with the frame. The buckle is very slightly twisted through use. There are dull grey patches of tinning remaining on the surface of the buckle but most has corroded away.

Whitehead (1996) illustrates an exact parallel to this example on page 84, no.524, which he dates from c.1620-1680. Another was found in a 17th-century context at Pontefract Castle (Roberts 2002, 274, fig. 112, no. 14).
