A complete copper ally strap fitting of Post Medieval date (AD 1500-1600). The object is a one piece, unclassified sword or dagger belt toggle-clasp. The upper face is convex. The object is composed of a moulded relief eye-section, a sub-semi circular aperture and sub-circular eye with a smaller circular suspension loop. From the loop expands a sub-rectangular plate at 4 o'clock. The plate takes the form of a series of convex transverse ridges and collars. The plate retains two circular rivet holes one of which retain rust from a separate iron rivet. The back of the object is concave and undecorated.
The metal is a dark green in colour with a pitted patina.
