A cast lead alloy object, possibly a palm guard from the Post-Medieval period dating to c.AD 1500-1800.
The object is an irregular oval in plan, and irregularly plano-convex in section. An irregular oval depression is visible off-centre on the top. The surface of the object is cracked all over perhaps suggesting that it has been in a fire.
Dimensions: Length 56mm, width 42mm, thickness 10mm and weight 85.37g.
Discussion: Palm guards were used by leather workers to protect the palm whilst stitching. A large number have been reported, for example: KENT-6E794E and LVPL-610AAC
