An incomplete Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame (c. 1350-c. 1650).

The pin is missing.

Each loop is oval in plan and similar in size. The frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. At the front, both outer edges have transverse grooves as decoration. The central narrowed bar is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear.

This buckle has a green patina with off-white deposits and iron staining at the centre of the bar.

Length: 29.4mm; width: 25.6mm; thickness: 2.6mm. Weight: 5.06g.

Similar buckles have been published and dated c. 1350-c. 1650 AD (Whitehead 2003: 53, refs: 289, 290).
