An incomplete copper alloy Iron Age brooch dating to the period c. 400-50 BC. The brooch comprises an arched bow, which is semicircular in cross section with a slight point to the apex. Each terminal exhibits a knop projecting upwards. The knops are circular in cross section and expand out towards their terminals. Each has a round recess at its centre, which may have held enamel. The remains of an iron pin are presnet at one terminal, and the remnants of the catchplate are present at the other. The reverse is undecorated. A green patina is on the surface.
The brooch measures 38.65mm in length, 8.84mm at its widest, 3.72mm in thickness and weighs 6.98g.
The knopped decoration is similar to that found on brooches of type 2K, although this type have a crossbar. Cf. Adams (2013) p.69.
