An incomplete copper alloy purse bar of Post-Medieval date, AD 1500 - 1600, of Ward Perkins Class B1. It consists of a central, rectangular, block with a circular hole running between the centres of the long sides and a sub-circular extension in the centre of each of the shorter sides. The extensions are stepped; the outer ends narrow to a smaller diameter and terminate in a hemispherical knop. One of the knops has broken away and is missing. There is a faint chevron shaped groove on one face of the block, and a central groove at one edge only of the other side. The bar is 47.3mm long, 12.8mm wide and 8.4mm thick. It weighs 14.11gm. The suspension loop and purse frame are missing.
A similar purse bar is illustrated in the London Museum Medieval Catalogue (1940), page 167, number B1.
