Decorative mount, probably from a strap or belt and of Medieval date, possibly from the 11th or 12th century. The mount is rectangular with dimensions of 26.9mm by 22.8mm, a maximum thickness of 4.0mm and a weight of 5.8g. The mount has an openwork design depicting a standing figure beside a quadruped animal, possibly a lion and a bird perched on the back of the beast. The scene is Romanesque in style and may be allegorical. The scene is enclosed by an incised border. At each corner of the mount is an attachment hole.
