An incomplete cast copper-alloy fragment originating from a small-long brooch of probable Anglo-Saxon derivation, dating to the Early Medieval period, c. 450-480 AD. Only the headplate survives, with the rest of the object sheared off in a neat linear truncation at the base of the headplate. The latter is rectangular in plan, with a broken circular perforation at each corner. On the reverse face of the brooch, a single-lugged pin attachment point is visible, also broken in old damage. Preserved in fair condition with an even green patina, it survives to a length of 18.66mm, 26.22mm wide, and 5.93mm thick where the pin-lug extends from the rear face of the object. It weighs 3.61g.

Similar small-long brooches with perforations at the corners of their headplates are recorded on the PAS database as YORYM-91B654 and NMS-0AE155. This brooch can probably be assigned to Penn and Brugmann's phase FA1 (c. 450-480).
