A virtually complete cast copper-alloy harness pendant dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. It takes the form of a quatrefoil in plan view, with a domed outer face and suspension loop turned at an angle of 90 degrees projecting from the apex of the object. Between the circular corner lobes is a small triangular cusp, one on the midpoint of each side. At the midpoint of the harness pendant is incised decoration consisting a triple concentric lozengiform motif, enclosing a small central circular aperture. Remnants of gilding remain on the upper surface of the object, while two of the corner lobes on one side have been partially crushed and bent inwards through means of post-depositional damage. Preserved in fair condition with a rather coarse brown patina, it measures 43.89mm long, 34.36mm wide at its midpoint, and 7.78mm thick at its suspension loop. It weighs 11.32g.
This is a more unusual form of pendant. Two parallels are recorded on the PAS database, BH-243AF3 and BH-177E6E- though these have five apertures at the centre instead of one.
