A flat rectangular 'tablet' or strip with an integral curving and tapering arm. The upper face of the object bears stamped Roman numerals: IX or XI. On the upper face, in one angle of the X, there is a circular hole which measures 2.8mm in diameter. The hole penetrates through to the rear face where it is smaller and its edge is burred. The hole is currently filled with earth. The curving arm is bevelled on its upper face and one longer edge is bevelled on the rear face. This bevelling seems to have occurred when the metal was chopped.
