Post-Medieval two-part toggle clasp (eye-section) of Post-Medieval date (AD 1500-1700). The object is a Type 1 sword belt fitting.

The object is the component of the eye through which the toggle on the corresponding section would have fitted. The object is broadly rectangular and flat with a large rectangular void. At each end of the perforation there is a transverse ridge, one forming the outer edge of the fitting. Integral to the lower edge, near the terminal of the fitting there is a circular suspension loop.

Beyond the other ridge there is an integral plate which is circular with a large circular perforation and repeating projecting spurs around the outer edge of the circular plate.
