An incomplete copper alloy finger ring of Henig Type III dating to 43 to 300 AD. The band is oval shaped and D-shaped in cross-section and expands from the shoulders to the outer section, which is the widest part of the ring. In the bezel there is an oval recess, now empty which would have contained an intaglio made from glass or a gem.
Reference: The ring belongs to Henig's (1974) Type III, which are roughly of 1st to 3rd century AD date. A similar ring, with intaglio, was found during excavations at Colchester (Crummy 1983, p.48, fig.50, no.1786).
