An incomplete copper alloy strap fitting; decorative mount of Post-Medieval date (AD 1500-1650). In plan the mount is sub-circular and is moulded as a flower with five inner and five outer petles with a central pelletThe reverse of the mount has two integral, oval sectioned studs which taper to a blunt point.
The metal is a dark brown in colour with areas of green corrosion product.
Strap mounts were popular during the 13th to early 16th centuries with some types continuing into the 17th century as harness mounts (Egan, G. 2005 Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition MoLAS Monograph 19 p. 39). This probably dates to the 16th to mid 17th century.
