Unique ID: NARC-0260EB

Object type certainty: Possibly
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete copper alloy Mount of probable Medieval date (AD 1025-1200). The object is composed of a central rectangular plate with and integral knop. The knop is expanded and circular and is attached to a rectangular sectioned projection. From one side of the plate an integral ovate plate projects. This may have been a form attached to three sides of the plate in its original form. The two remaining edges terminate in abraded breaks. The back of the object retains a single, rectangular sectioned spru, projecting from below the juncture of the upper spru and knop.

There is no indication of a decorative pattern on either face of the object

The metal is a dark green in colour with a pitted patina.

Length: 33.27mm, Width: 28.34mm, Thickness (plate): 1.73mm, Thickness (with projections): 16.59mm, Weight: 4.8g.

The object is likely associated with horse equipment
