The larger rim sherd has a shiny dark brown layer of glaze on ex- and interior, while the smaller rim sherd is only glazed on the interior. All sherds (apart from the smaller rim sherd) are sand tempered and burned oxidising, being red with a grey core. The smaller rim sherd is also sand tempered, but with a more orangey-red clay. The dark glaze suggest it may be Cistercian ware.
