One roughly rectangular cut tile tessera of probable Roman date.

Description:The tessera is roughly rectangular and of medium size. It is not clear what kind of mosaic it may relate to although traces of mortar remains. It is a bright orange .

Measurements: 25.5mm high, 26.44mm long, 21.51mm wide and 21.86g in weight.

Discussion:These unprepossessing small cubes are of important because they may suggest the proximity of a building decorated with a mosaic floor in good Romanised tastes and indeed a known roman villa is known in the vicinity of these fragment.
