An incomplete cast copper alloy asymmetrical locking buckle with a drilled frame and separate bar probably c. AD 1350-1450. The frame is rectangular in plan with a separate spindle that is off-set to the rear. The front edge is notched for the pin and has a transverse groove on the front to accept the locking bar (now broken off - missing) that would have once been attached to the spindle.
Length 28.8mm, width 17.4mm, thickness 6.0mm and weight 8.2g.
Whitehead (1996, 85) illustrates a number of similar examples Nos.552-554, which he dates to c.AD 1350-1450.
