A Post medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle frame probably dating from AD 1550 - 1650. The loops are D-shaped in plan and the frame is D shaped in section with an angled front and inner side and flat back. One loop is broken off and missing. There is a semicircular projection on the outer edge of the loop and at either end of the strap bar. The projecting lobes have five or six raised lines separated by incised lines angling in to meet at a point on the inner side, giving a scallop shell like design. The strap bar is narrowed. There is a casting flaw in one lobe, making it hollow. The frame is 29mm long, 31.9mm wide and 3mm thick. 4.59g.
Whitehead (2003:65) illustrates a similar example, no.403 which he dates to c. AD 1550-1650. Compare also SOM-CBC16C.
