A complete late medieval or early post-medieval copper alloy book mount dating 15th - 17th century. The mount is lozenge-shaped with a triangular notch cut taken out of the centre of each side of the lozenge. There is a domed boss in the centre, within a stamped counter-relief octofoil, containing a concentric line of pellets and a star in each foil. The mount has a counter-relief border comprised of pellets. The reverse side is undecorated. Each corner of the mount has a circular attachment hole. One corner of the mount is folded backwards through damage.
A parallel can be found in Margeson (1993: 75) plate XIII which is still mounted on a book and is dated to the late 16th century. A similar example, also with stamped decoration, is recorded on the database at NMS-5470A8.
