A post-medieval lead alloy disc, probably one of the inner discs from a four disc cloth seal dating from AD 1550 - 1724 (Egan 1992, Datasheet 3). The disc is rather square in plan, and has the remains of a rectangular projecting tab at one edge (the tab bends backwards on itself), and an area of damage opposite, where the other discs of the seal would have attached. There is a raised rim on one face, and an impressed shield on the other. The shield is the Arms of England. It has four quarters. The top right quarter of the shield depicts a lion rampant; the bottom left quarter depicts a harp. The remaining two quarters of the shield are further sub-divided into four quarters, each one showing three lis in the top left and bottom right and three lions passant in the other two quarters. The seal is 15.3mm long, 16.5mm wide and 1.2mm thick. 1.24g. It has a well developed grey patina.
