An incomplete cast copper-alloy hooked tag of Read's class E, type 1, dating to the Early Medieval period, c. 900-1100. Only the main body of the clasp survives, with the hook itself broken away in old damage. It consists a sub-oval body, with two sub-oval lugs projecting from its front edge that flank a sub-triangular projecting lobe. The upper surface of the hooked tag demonstrates stamped decoration in the form of six ring-dot motifs surrounding a further central ring-dot motif. The underside is completely plain and featureless. Preserved in fair condition with an even green patina, it survives to a length of 16.92mm, 13.05mm wide at its widest point, and 0.88mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 0.84g.
A comparable hooked tag is published by Read (2008) see p. 32, no. 135.
