Lead spindle whorl. Cast plano-convex whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 12.5mm, Walton Rogers form A1. Shrinkage lines in the upper surface as cast may suggest manufacture in an open mould; patinated. The ample spindle size may suggest an Anglo-Scandinavian date, while the mass may suggest a primary function plying cord. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 850-1000.
