A Roman, copper alloy - bronze, struck or hammered sestertius of Antoninus Pius (138-161AD). Obverse: Laureate head right. Inscription: ANTONIN[] AVG []. Reverse: Female figure seated/enthroned left, right arm held outright, small figure possible bird in front of head and also something small behind the head. Inscription: Not visible. Die axis: 12 o'clock. Worn or fair condition on the obverse but very worn or poor condition on the reverse. The coin has a slightly square shape, attractive dark green patina with a few pale green patches of corrosion and break down. This is likely to date between 138-161AD. Ref. Coins of England and the UK, Spink 2017, page 69, Roman Coins & their values, David R. Sear, 4th Revised edition, Seaby 1988, page 156-158 possibly 1261 or 1264, Roman Coins & their values II, David R. Sear, Spink 2002, page 217-231. The coin is 29.34mm long, 27.49mm wide, 4.19mm thick, diameter 29.34mm and weighs 13.0g.
