A complete but worn and abraded cast copper alloy Medieva non-heraldic personal, pedestal seal matrix, probably (AD1300-1500).

Description: The seal matrix is conical with a ovoid base on which the legend and design is illegible due to being badly abraded. The pedestal has six sides; one side has a slight elongated indentation with an incised line running along its length. The handle ends in a pointed looped knob.

Measurements: overall height: 28.80mm, weight: 10.25g, Face - length:18.10mm, width: 14.83mm, pedestal - width: 4.77mm

Description: The design within in a star shape is common on annonymous religious (popular in the 14th century) and on so called 'merchant mark' seal matrices popular in 14th-15th century (Harvey and McGuinness 1996. 88-93) for non heraldic personal seals.
