Copper alloy knife or dagger scabbard chape dating from the late medieval or early post-medieval period, that is the 14th-16th century AD. The tongue-shaped chape is undecorated save for an incised line which follows the decorative double curve of the upper front edge. The two small attachment holes pierce the reverse side of the upper edge. The bottom is slightly damaged, but otherwise the artefact is complete. Much of the surface tinning/silver wash remains.
