An incomplete, Post Medieval, Mid C18th-Early C19th. Cast, copper alloy, fair size rumbler bell. A large, open, rectangular suspension loop with a plain upper half and moulded sunburst decoration on the lower half. There is a worn bell founder's initials either 'WG' or possibly 'SG' - both unknown. A lower quarter of the bell has broken away probably by agricultural machinery otherwise a light brown patina with some light green corrosion but minus the 'pea' so it no longer rings. This is likely to date to 1750-1825. Ref. Detector Finds, Gordon Bailey, Greenlight Publishing 1992, page 35-45 No. 26 or 27 and No. 51 or 52. The bell is 47.86mm long, 35.94mm wide, 35.73mm thick, diameter 35.94mm and weighs 32.6g.
