In the centre of the bowl is an upwardly pointing pin that has a narrow waist and is secured in place by a single rivet at its base. Traces of decoration is visible on the inside rim of the bowl in the form of semicircles that run around the top edge. Evenly spaced around the outside edge of the rim are ten outwardly projection small knops
Remains of a small catch plate are present on the underside of the brooch with the mount for the pin opposite. The pin mount is single pierced tab that still holds spring of four curls, the pin is now missing.
