A fragment of a copper alloy Cruciform Brooch of Early Medieval date (AD 450-550). The object is composed of a central flat rhomboid headplate with a double incised line at the boundary between the plate and knops. Three knops extend from the plate while the lower aspect broadens and curves to form the body of the brooch. The body terminates above the foot, below two incised transverse lines, in an old and abraded break. The foot, pin, catchplate and partial aspects of the knops, are missing due to old and abraded breaks. An integral lug projects from the back of the headplate which would have allowed the wire pin to be attached.

The metal is as a light green in colour with a pitted patina.

Length: 34.32mm, Width: 18.40mm, Thickness: 3.02mm, Weight: 4.4g.
