Late Medieval - Post Medieval copper alloy thimble with unusually thick walls, sloping sides, a steeply domed top and a slight carination between side and top. The lower parts of the sides are covered with vertical rows of circular pits and the upper part and top are covered in a continuos spiral of circular pits. There is no plain tonsure. There is a plain band at the rim with traces of an indented line separating it form the main field and the pits. Part of the rim is corroded so it is not clear if it was originally notched but the remaining half is plain. The thimble is 18mm tall, 20mm in diameter at the base, 2.0mm thick and weighs 8.36 grams.

It is similar to Holmes (1988: 1) Fig 2b and c, both cast, which are dated 1400-1550 AD and identified as heavy duty thimbles and to examples from Southwark (Egan 2005: 131-2, ) especially no.621, a cast example found in a context dated 1530-1550 AD.
