Incomplete copper alloy cauldron leg, sub-rectangular in plan and in profile and sub-triangular in section, with sides tapering slightly from the top towards the now-missing foot. It is decorated with a single, moulded, central rib. Part of the body of the cauldron is still attached to the upper end of the leg and there appears to be a pattern of cross-hatching on it that would have been created by textile or mesh applied to the cauldron interior when it was molten at the surface. There are also patches of black organic material adhering to the leg which would have been burnt on when the cauldron was near the fire. The leg has been broken above the foot: the remaining length of the leg suggests that the cauldron would have been fairly long-legged, similar to the Westcountry cauldron illustrated by Butler and Green (2003) on page 165, no.170 and dating from the 15th to the 16th century.
Saunders (2012) illustrates a similarly broken leg with one central rib on page 81, fig.5, no.11 which is dated from the 15th century.
