A post medieval lead two part cloth seal possibly dating to AD c.1380-1700. The seal comprises two circular discs joined by a connecting strip which is folded to press the two discs together. One disc has a rivet which has been pushed through the hole of the second disc. The motifs on this seal are too worn and incomplete to closely date the object but there seems to be some form of stamp on the end of the rivet but it is unclear.

The cloth seal is 30mm in length, 20.3mm in width, 6mm in thickness, and weighs 14.37g

The earliest seals for marking the quality of cloth date from the late 14th century and continued in various forms up to the 19th century (Egan 1994 p2-4)

Similar seals have been recorded onto the database: WILT-5EF211, KENT-B28256
