Complete copper-alloy early medieval stirrup mount, dating to c. 1000 - 1100 AD (Williams, Class A, Type 10A). The mount is sub-triangular in plan and convex, with a circular pierced attachment loop at the top and a rivet hole in either corner at the other end. The front of the mount is decorated with a zoomorphic design in relief of a leonine creature facing right with tail curved over its back and head and front paw upturned to grasp a hanging object. A protruding flange runs across the bottom of the back surface of the mount.
The length of the mount is 53.68mm, the maximum width of the mount is 29.60mm and the thickness of the mount is 6.60mm. The weight of the mount is 30.85g.
