A complete medieval or post-medieval cast one-piece copper-alloy button with integral undrilled shank, dating to c.1400 -1700 AD. The button has a flat bottom surface and a convex outer surface with a small knop positioned just off centre. The button has a matt green-brown patina due to corrosion of the copper-alloy. The simplicity of the design means that it is difficult to assign a more precise date to this button. The dimensions are: 14.83mm in length, 11.40mm in diameter and 7.35mm in maximum thickness, with a weight of 3.64g.
Similar buttons dating to the late medieval period can be seen in Dress Accessories, p. 274. A close parallel from the database and dating to the post-medieval period is HAMP-0B9FC7.
