An complete copper alloy strap fitting or belt mount of Post Medieval date (AD 1500 to AD 1700).

The mount is in the form of a stylised acorn, and includes two complete integrally cast attachment spikes, both with circular sections tapering to pointed ends.

The front of the mount is convex, and the reverse concave. The general shape is a pointed oval with an extension at the bottom end representing the twig of the tree from which the acorn has sprouted. A rounded extension at the top represents the growing tip of the acorn.

The lower half of the mount represents the acorn cup and is cross-hatched to resemble the an acorn cup. The half representing the acorn is smoooth, plain and undecorated. The two halves are divided by a raised band. The reverse is plain and undecorated.

The measures 36.6 mm in length, 20.7 mm wide and 7.1 mm thick, includiung the lugs. It weighs 4.9 grams.

The mount is a mid green colour and has an even surface patina.
