A Medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle (c. 1200-c. 1400). Meols type 2.

The frame is roughly oval in plan, convex at the front and flat at the rear. The narrowed off-set bar is sub-circular in cross-section. The flat tapering pin is rectangular in cross-section and has a groove on the underside. This buckle frame and pin have a green patina.

Frame: length: 12.0mm; width: 19.4mm; thickness: 2.2mm.

Pin: length: 12.0mm; width at loop: 2.4mm.

Overall weight: 1.48g.

A similar buckle from London has been published (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 68, fig. 42, ref: 271).
