Medieval/post-medieval copper alloy shoulder bolster from whittle tang knife, cast sub-rectangular with convex sides and flat top (shield-shaped section), grooved end for missing blade and rectangular longitudinal perforation for tang. Both faces decorated with pecked lines forming multiple chevrons arranged saltire wise. Length 14.5mm. Width 13mm. 9.3mm thick. Cf. Read (2001), fig.56, no.645-6. 15th-16th century.
