Medieval (c. 1230 to c. 1400) buckle: The copper alloy buckle frame is a sub-D shape which has a pronounced lipped notch for the pin. The strap bar is slightly off-set, and only slightly narrowed. The frame is flat on the reverse. The pin is missing. The surface of the frame is a dark grey colour.
The buckle and plate measures 14.66mm long, and 21.14mm wide across the frame. It weighs 1.29g.
The frame is probably dated to the Medieval period. Egan and Pritchard (2002) illustrate similar examples (Nos. 306-310) which date from c. 1230 to c. 1400.
