Medieval (c.1200-1400) strap fitting; bar mount. The copper alloy bar mount has an elongated sub-droplet arm with a bulbous upper terminal with a broken edge. The lower terminal has an integral quatrefoil frame with a small knop on the exterior in each corner. In profile it is slightly curved being convex on the exterior face and concave on the reverse. The frame is D-shaped in section. The surface has an incomplete white metal alloy coating.
It measures 29.01mm in length, 13.19mm wide and weighs 1.87g.
A similar bar mounts are recorded on the database NMS-2143A3, GLO-14ED4A and GLO-A1E719 dating to the 13th to 14th centuries.
