DEBITAGE

Unique ID: SOM-0A5F9D

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete flint blade of probable Prehistoric date. A tertiary blade or blade-like flake of a translucent biege-grey flint with white-grey patination at the proximal end. Sub-parallel removal scars are present on the dorsal face, all seemingly struck from the same direction and the overall flake removal. The blade terminates in a natural break. There are no indications of retouch.

Dimensions: length 17.4mm; width 9.5mm; thickness 1.6mm; weight 0.45g.

Although worked, a single flake cannot be dated with any degree of certainty and a very general Mesolithic to Bronze Age date range is suggested.
