MOUNT

Unique ID: SF-F887FA

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete cast copper-alloy mount dating to the Medieval period, probably c. 1300-1450. It demonstrates a circular body manufactured from sheet metal, the upper surface of which demonstrates three circular apertures in addition to engraved decoration that serves to give the mount the appearance of a flower. The two outer apertures presumably both contained circular-sectioned copper alloy rivets (one now missing) with a circular washer surviving on the rear face of the surviving example. The central example is much larger, demonstrating a mnore prominent dome-head in addition to a circular washer on its rear face as with the surviving rivet. Preserved in good condition with an even green patina, it measures 26.74mm in diameter, 6.13mm thick at its midpoint, and weighs 2.92g.
