A copper alloy belt mount dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1500). It is domed with a concave rear. The object has a central oval section and has a sub-rectangular terminal at each end. Each terminal is contains a copper alloy rivet for attachment. In the centre is a circular perforation which may have held another rivet or stud.

The central lobe has been decorated with four grooves. The resulting ridges are decorated with a series of small transverse grooves. The object has a dark-green patina and is in good condition.

Dimensions: 15mm in length, 9mm in width, 3.5mm thick, 0.9g

This form of belt mount was very popular in the medieval period and was in use from at least 1150-1450 AD. Similar examples can be seen in Egan and Pritchard's book on Medieval London, p.213-4 (2002). Similar examples which can be found on the database are LVPL-CA08F1, LVPL-F028C2 and LVPL-7D5A62.
