A Post Medieval silver shilling of William III (AD 1694-1702) dating to AD 1695-1702.

The object is a smooth and worn coin that has been bent into an 'S' shape to be used as a love token. Both faces are worn. The crowned cruciform shield is visible on the reverse. Coins of William III were commonly converted into love tokens and this example is the correct size for a shilling of William III although the obverse is too worn to identify.

The coin measures 20.39 mm in diameter, is 0.95 mm thick and weighs 2 grams.

Evidence of reuse: The deliberate smoothing of the coin and stamps indicate it may have been reused as a love token.
