An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy one-piece button or cloak fastener (c. 1600-c. 1700).
The integral drilled shank is missing.
This button is circular in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. The front is decorated with annulets and cordons of annulets to form a stylised elaborate flower head. The stub of the shank can be seen at the rear.
The button is corroded and green with tiny flecks of a white metal coating at the front.
Diameter: 20.0mm; height: 4.8mm; thickness: 1.4mm. Weight: 4.46g.
A button from South-East Dorset with very similar decoration has been published (Read 2005: 41, ref: 138).
