An incomplete copper-alloy medieval to post-medieval book clasp, dating to the period AD 1500-1700. The book clasp measures 43.82mm in length, 4.19 at minimum width and 15.57mm at maximum width. At the top of the book clasp there is a loop, which although now broken measures 3.81mm in length and would have attached to the back plate. The body of the book clasp is broadly lozenge form in shape, with a broadly rectangular form bisecting this, and another near the base, which is triangular in shape. The decoration on the body of the book clasp are linear punched circles, running parallel to one another down the length of the body on either side. On the rectangular sections, the decoration forms two to three lines of horizontal punched circles. The triangular base appears to have no decoration, except for an iron rivet, now broken, in broadly the centre of the base. Iron corrosion surrounds this rivet. There is no further decoration the back of the book clasp, which has a smooth patina and is light green in colour, except around the iron rivet. In total, the clasp weighs 2.93g.
