An incomplete cast copper-alloy Polden Hill (Colchester derivative) brooch of early Roman date (c. AD 80 - 120). The brooch is T-shaped in plan, bowed in profile and irregular in section. The wings are broadly semi-cylindrical; they are incomplete and heavily abraded. The axis bar, spring and pin have been lost. The bowhead is hump-like in profile and the reverse of the head has an oval shaped recess; this recess is partially filled with a beige coloured applied substance which is almost ceramic in nature. There is a small protrusion / lump on the head of the brooch which is all that remains of the rearward facing hook to hold the external bar of the spring. The bow tapers from the head and has been heavily abraded with a broken end; the foot and catch-plate have been lost. The head and bow have no visible decoration. The brooch is mid-green in colour.

Bayley and Butcher (2004: 160) comment that the distribution of Polden Hill brooches are concentrated in the West Midlands and suggest they date to the early Roman period c. AD 80 to 120.

The brooch measures 12.98mm in length, 19.70mm in width at the wings, 6.96mm in width across the bow and 5.42mm thick at the same point. It weighs 3.08grams.
