Late Iron Age copper-alloy brooch of La Tene type 1-2 (c. 400 BC - AD 1). The spring mechanism which forms the wings is intact, and the bow is integrally attached through part of the spring mechanism. The bow is plain and the top has a distinct upward arch behind the juncture with the wings. The arch then turns downward to form a relatively straight bow. The bow is cylindrical in section and tapers in width to a narrow point. The end of the bow is bent at a right angle to its vertical plane and forms a slight hook at the pointed end. It is unknown if this bend was caused by post-depositional damage or if the form of the bow means that the bend was an original feature.
