Lead probable spindle whorl. Cast flat-sided discoid whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter c.13mm. One side bears moulded decoration comprising crossing lines moulded in low relief; the other side is slightly concave with an upstanding rim. The object is either miscast or torn and subsequently partially melted. Patinated. The linear decoration recalls that of early post-medieval whorls. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
